What is U-Built Dreamhomes, Inc.ฎ?
Two friends, who have been in the construction and marketing business for over 20+ years, brought their strengths together and conceptualized the U-Built system. They studied current trends nationwide and realized they needed to focus on two primary areas: 1. Pre-engineered components, as they are becoming the future trends of the building industry, and 2. Homeowners are demanding more involvement in projects and want to be included in the entire building process. Thus, the formation of U-Built Dreamhomes, Inc.ฎ, a company that provides the homeowner with custom wall panels by Schake Construction, Incฎ and truss components, U-Built will then walk you through the tedious task of building your home, start to finish, allowing the homeowner to participate as their comfort level allows.

Can I help design my own Home?
Absolutely. Unlike other panel manufacturers that limit you to a few designs and fewer optional choices, U-Built Dreamhomes, Inc.ฎ allows you to custom design a home to fit your specific needs. Whether you select a stock design, modify an existing design, or work with an architect to create an original that is of your own development, U-Built lets you help design your new home, while at the same time making sure that local codes are adhered to.

How does the "Owner Participation Program" work?
Using a General Contractor (GC) is traditionally the way to build a new home. A GC will typically charge you for their time, and also mark up the costs quoted to them by their subcontractors. You have virtually no say in the selection of these subcontractors. The Owner Participation Program, however, lets you act as your own general contractor, purchasing U-Builts framing package direct from U-Built and pay your subcontractors directly, thus saving the GC markup. All of this lets you save money and time.

How do I find subcontractors to assist in the completion of my U-Built Home?
Your local U-Built representative will be able to help you find subcontractors in your area, and can make recommendations to you. Also though, you may select sub-contractors that you are familiar with. Either way, you are the person in control and will be selecting who will do the work, as opposed to a GC telling you whom they are hiring. You decide which is the best way to finish your new home.

Can I do any of the work myself?
Yes! The "Owner Participation Program" lets you decide how much, or how little, you want to contribute to the construction process. Regardless of whether you do most of the work, some of the work, or virtually none at all; the choice is yours. Many people are able to reduce costs by doing staining, painting, insulation, and the less daunting tasks, often building enough "sweat equity" into the house to satisfy down payment requirements. When your house is completed you will be more financially secure. Your hard work can, in some instances, add over $40,000 to your personal wealth!

How long does the building process usually take?
It normally takes three to nine months from start of construction to finish. It may take longer depending on complexity of home, your time and on-site involvement, the availability of subcontractor trades in the area and your time management skills. You can better determine construction timelines upon finalization of the design, which we provide for you to help you to stay on track and finalize what needs to be done and when. Communication is the key to a successful project.

What is the standard procedure to follow in making an informed buying decision?
There are three phases we go through prior to expecting any type of decision from you. The first phase is an informal meeting with your local representative to obtain information from each other and discuss specific goals and objectives. The second phase is more design oriented to insure that the home you are discussing is within your preferred budget guidelines. The third phase, which involves a contract with us, is a final clarification of the design, finishing amenities and on-site costs. Regardless of how much time is needed to finish each phase, we want you to be well informed and completely comfortable with your decision. We encourage all our customers to contact us frequently to get advice and support throughout the project. We want to ensure that each house is completed on schedule and that it is done right.

What if we want to do some of the work ourselves?
Your local representative will price your home on a completed basis. You should discuss with them the options of being a Project Manager, Doing most or all of the work yourself or a Turnkey program, where we do all the work for you. Together you can determine what best suits your needs and level of comfort in the building process.
